History
The Origin of Grace Mennonite Fellowship
Grace Mennonite Fellowship began in 1997 when a group of believers from eight different denominational backgrounds came together with a shared vision: to follow Jesus faithfully and build a community rooted in Scripture, service, and relationship. This group spent months studying the book of Acts and praying about what it meant to be church together. Out of those conversations and shared convictions, Grace Mennonite Fellowship was born in the Lacey Spring community of Rockingham County, Virginia.
1998
The Early Days
In the early months, the congregation met at the local elementary school. In January 1998, Grace purchased property next to the school and began building a permanent place for worship and fellowship. This step marked an important season of growth and commitment.
2000s
Growing Together
As the church family expanded, an education wing was added to provide additional space for children’s ministries, classes, and community gatherings. Grace continued to grow as a multigenerational congregation committed to worship, discipleship, and serving others.
2024
A New Chapter
In 2024, Grace transitioned its denominational affiliation from the Virginia Mennonite Conference to LMC: A Fellowship of Anabaptist Churches. While the affiliation changed, Grace’s commitment to biblical teaching, discipleship, peace, and service remains the same.
